I'm Goin Innnn

Let's Get down in Barcelona

There's this song out there by Friendly Fires featuring Au Revoire Simone called Paris, remixed by Aeroplane. It's one of those songs that instantly transports you, not only across the Atlantic to the city in question, but to wherever your heart may desire at the moment.
While digging up more Lifelike tunes on the blogosphere, I encountered another such "city" song, this one about a city in one of my favorite countries. It's by an all-female (how sexy) group called Plasticine, and it's called Barcelona. This, I suppose, is Lifelike's answer to Aeroplane's piece of magic. Although, I don't know if anything can answer to that gorgeous creation, but that's besides the point.
Whatever the message seems to be, there's something amazing about a woman singing to you over synthesized electro-pop music that manages to get your heart rate going just a liiiittle bit faster.
Perhaps this is what dreams are made of.
If you're in Barcelona at the moment, I envy you, and hope this helps you finish out your last month or so over there in fine fashion.
Without further ado, I give you

Before you Burn but after you Roll

In honor of Mr. Khalifa's theme song for college (or at least college as I experienced it) I'd like to share with you a few recent additions to my iTunes that have kept my pod spinning on repeat whenever I roll to the roof for a little solo session.
The first is dj Agent 86 - Wavestate This, as well as the other two, have a little bit of a "Night at the Roxbury" feel, at least to begin with. But I like how this one in particular fucks around with the vocals and then kind of turns the tables on your ears completely by the time the track is done.
Next up is by a favorite of mine, Lifelike. This one's called L.O.V.E is what you need and I'll admit, it's repetitive. But I suppose I enjoy the trance-y feel it gives off and I can say without hesitation that L.O.V.E is really what everyone needs. Besides, I can just picture Mr. Ordonez and dp Fury singing this either to themselves in the mirror or to each other, in a steamy bathroom. That shit's funny.
Number three is a little slower and has no vocals, or at least, intelligible vocals. But it's a very chilled-out beat and definitely something to de-stress to.
Kimouts - Sometimes (diogenes club remix)
So roll, push play, and burn. Please. But make sure Wiz's Empire of the Sun track is on the playlist, too.

We Can Run Away Through the City
I've been listening to this song, Amy Meredith - Pornstar(diamond cut remix), at work all day and suddenly the prospect of walking back to the train station through the wind and fog and block-long puddles comes almost with anticipation as opposed to trepidation.
If you wanna wait 'till the comedown...
It's a love song disguised in disco-beats and electric vocals and when they repeat heartbeat heartbeat heartbeat it's like listening to your own heart beat heart beat heat beat...
If I had to run away through a city with someone, this place would be on my list of top 10 cities.

Shhhh. . . just listen

This is your brain:
Marchand - Starlove
This is your brain, on lucy:
Marchand - Supernova
My only problem is, if I were to put these two songs on a playlist, on repeat, I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference between the two. Though maybe that's not such a bad thing, if you know what I mean.
More info on Marchand can be found here

Weezer & Weezy

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo (no way that's your real name) was interviewed by Pitchfork (who don't know shit about music and just act snobby & nobler than thou in order to think they do) about their collaboration with F Baby for their new album.
Pitchfork: So Lil Wayne is on the Raditude track “Can’t Stop Partying”. How did that come about?
Rivers Cuomo: It might be my favorite track on the album. It was an epic process coming up with it between me, [co-writer] Jermaine Dupri, and [producer] Polow Da Don– and then Lil Wayne topped it off with this rap from the edge of the grave.
Pitchfork: Were you actually in the studio with Wayne?
RC: No, I’ve never met him. I’d love to.
Pitchfork: Why did you specifically want him instead of another rapper?
RC: He sounds like he’s totally insane– and not just for the sake of sounding crazy. He’s not trying to sound ghetto or gangsta or intellectual– he’s just very natural and weird.
The first time I really became aware of him was when he worked the Ninja Turtles into the song “Kush”. Let me look up the lyrics online. … Ok, he says, “I feel like I’m racing a bunch of little turtles/ Keep a bandana like the Ninja Turtles.” First of all, he rhymes “turtles” with “turtles,” which is crazy! Second, he pronounces “turtles” with this real hard “R” so he sounds super nerdy, which is something you don’t often hear from black rappers. Third, he references the Ninja Turtles! That’s another thing you don’t often hear.
Pitchfork: You guys are kind of like kindred spirits in a super weird way.
RC: Well, you’ve got the Weezer/Weezy connection. But, more importantly, he really tapped into the spirit of the song, which I really struggled with at first. There was no sense of irony or darkness or tension in the first draft I heard from Jermaine. It was purely “whoo-hoo, let’s drink, get stoned, and get it on,” which is a fine sentiment, but I couldn’t honestly put that out and have it be the end of the story. So I ended up turning the music into something dark and beautiful and haunting, which gave it a different meaning without changing the lyrics. Lil Wayne picked up on that and developed it with his rap.
Pitchfork: What’s he rapping about?
RC: I have his verse memorized, it’s so great. He’s rapping about how you can’t stop mixing drugs and alcohol, but there are a few words he chooses which are surprising and suggest a terrible end to the party. The last line is: “I hope the killer doesn’t take the life of the party.”

And Every Night We'll Watch the Stars, They'll be out for Us

Raw Man. Fucking Raw Man. Another apparent French legend ("apparent" only because legend is being used second-handedly here). Has worked with a dude (Benjamin diamond) a guy that collaborated on Stardust's ultimate love song - Music Sounds Better with You. By simply applying the transitive property here, we can safely argue, and assume, that Mr. Raw Man is, indeed, raw.
I recently came across a few of his tracks in blogosphere archives(Thanks Guys!), and have now elected to put them up in pink and blue.
Billy Joel says sharing a drink we call loneliness is better thank drinking alone. Clearly, Mr. Joel has never had a drink with me.
Raw Man - Beautiful
Raw Man - Europa
Raw Man - Across the Universe
Across the Universe must be some kind of modern answer to the gorgeous, drug fueled anthem of four sweet boys from Britain of yesteryear. Personally, I'd fly with either of them.
