Love and Sky and Sand

So, it's been a while since we've seen each other. And I sincerely apologize for the recess from interaction. Funny how in my last post I wrote about how it was the new year and how I didn't know what it had in store for us but that, regardless of what happened, we should take it all in stride. Funny how things work out, I guess.

It is with relief, then, that I step forward and offer you a light note. A happy note from the music world. The song samples Michael Jackson's, "It's the falling in love" and is one of those songs where you just want to say, yeah, that song is about how I feel right now.

Louis La Roche - Love (Link Fixed By Shizzy...Hi Fizzy!)

This other one is calmer. It is a song that starts out, and leaves you expecting a louder, more raucous build and at first seems to disappoint when it fails to pick up steam. After you listen once or twice, though, you realize that the pace and rhythm work very well with the feeling the song is trying to convey. This song, on a personal note, is in honor of San Francisco, and 17th story views and $300 lap dances. It is, in short, a remarkably brilliant silver lining.

Paul Kalkbrenner - Sky and Sand

The Rebirth

I don't write reviews, but reading how terrible the ones that have been coming out have been has prompted me to. Music is not politics or the news, it's about feelings, spare me the severely analytical breakdown, you're missing the point. Basically, if you have been a fan for a while, this is your favorite album thus far this year. It's him, being himself. Continuing to push the envelope while being quintessentially Wayne. If, on the other hand, you're one of those people who is more into genres than artists...then you are also one of those people who doesn't know how to enjoy art and...due to an inability to open your heart and mind to the concept driving the motivation and resulting theme behind the album...will hate it. We like to categorize, but fortunately (unfortunately for haters), there is no word or category that defines any one of us. We are simply ourselves and people can only accept us or reject us for it. The way this relates to the album is, really listen, listen to the person, listen to the emotion being conveyed...forget about your pre-conceived notions of hip hop or rock, open your ears and mind to it...and simply see if it feels real.

Verdict: It's very real (vVv)

Thank _____ (insert deity) I'm not a hater.

Below, my favorite track off the album.

Changing

Some cool soulful shit. They say I'm changing. Why?

Erykah Badu ft. Lil Wayne & Bilal: Jump Up In The Air (Stay There)

Kelis ft. KiD CuDi: They Say

Cuz they're doing the same thing.

Supa Dupa

Gucci's video for this was already so fresh, bloody murder on Sean's part.
